Crevisse started business in 2002 with a goal to make not the biggest, but the most beloved company in Korea. Incorporating in 2004, before the concept of 'impact investment' and 'impact business' was introduced in Korea, Crevisse started investing and incubating businesses that aimed to solve social problems. In 2006, Crevisse participated in Social Venture Contest Korea (SVCK) as the first institutional partner, which allowed it to gain deeper understanding of both impact investment as well as impact business. In 2007, Crevisse launched a funding solution, 'DONUS', as an independent impact business for non-profit organizations.

Over the past 18 years, Crevisse strived to make contribution to the society by developing businesses in sectors where market principle wasn't working. At the same time, Crevisse incubated 'In-company ventures' to solve social problems. Crevisse also collaborated with experts and entrepreneurs to make investments and develop various impact businesses.

As an impact venture group and community leading the industry, Crevisse plans to go beyond Korea and to make changes in Asia and around the world.

Crevisse is an "Entrepreneur for Entrepreneurs" with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. We have always tried to be humble and to accept the advice necessary to improve our capability to make changes in society. We will keep on challenging the existing standards and regulations to make the world a better place to live in.

2002 - Present

2002. 07. Starting the business

Founders' gathering and Chinese restaurant website building project.

Having no specific business item, the founders' first meeting in a Chinese restaurant began with discussions on the company's philosophy and mission. During the meeting, they asked the owner of the Chinese restaurant whether he needed a website. And the website building project became Crevisse's first business item. It wasn't the fanciest way to start a business. But they learned the importance of passion and courage in business development.
2003. 12. Impact Investment No.1

Eduplex Education

There were members of the company that became interested in education-related issues in Korea and they founded Eduplex Education, a start-up network for education. Eduplex Education was the first company to introduce a ‘self-led learning’ program in Korea. Crevisse shared office with Eduplex Education and offered IT strategy and construction services. Eduplex Education has since become a market leader in the self-led learning business with over 100 offices.

Cymap Digital Humanware. "Storyteller of Cyberspace"

Cymap Digital Humanware(Crevisse Partners’ initial corporate name) was founded with a mission as a ‘Storyteller of Cyberspace’. Its Office space was small but overwhelmed with passion.

Foundation of the Powerhouse (business management)

After numerous trial-and-errors, the founders started making plans for a 30-year journey. It was an era with negative views on start-ups due to the dot-com Bubble in Korea. In such an environment, the founders came to realize that business could neither thrive nor be sustainable with mere passion and motivation. They felt the need for philosophy and mission. They wanted to change society’s negative views on start-ups and show future entrepreneurs that joining an established company or going to graduate school were not the only options.
2006. 01. Business Reorganization

Social change through technology innovation

We became firm in our belief that future businesses will maximize the use of information technology. Although there were many limitations to what we could do at the time, we were certain IT innovations would take place for contents, mobile, and design. Expertise in these fields would become essential. We expanded and reorganized our IT businesses into IT governance, IT consulting and advisory, and IT outsourcing, and explored more ways to learn problem-solving skills.
2006. 05. Mission Statement

Social change through social ventures

When the concept of social ventures was first introduced in Korea, the company leadership agreed to provide IT services to Social Venture Competition Korea (SVCK) for free. The company was not financially stable at the time. But the company leadership didn't want to postpone the company's social responsibility to when its business has stabilized.
2007. 01. Change in Corporate Name

Crevisse Partners, "Leading the Creative Changes"

With the establishment of the company's mission and philosophy, the corporate name was changed to 'Crevisse Partners'. The change was made to reflect the company's core value to lead creative changes, show its intention to become a creative visionary and to reflect its decision-making system as a Partnership. The change was important as it was a mission statement internally and externally.
2007. 06. Talent Acquisition

Implementation of Internship Program

Realizing the importance of talent acquisition, the company implemented an internship program to recruit and train capable personnel. Three interns were employed in 2007 for the first time. Two of the three interns are now members of Crevisse’s board of directors and managers of Donus and Inspire.D. Crevisse's internship program's goal is to train its members to become the company's key decision-maker.

Foundation of Brictoworks (DONUS)

With its experience on various IT related projects, Crevisse founded an in-company venture, Brictoworks. Brictoworks' focus was on Donus, a donation solution developed to solve non-profit organizations' problems. Donus was developed to help NPOs work efficiently and effectively while making contributions to the society.

After the incubation period for a year and a half, the company became confident in DONUS. Autonomy as an independent business system was given to Brictoworks with Hyesun Chang (2012-2017) and Jongmin Hham (2017-present) as the ventures' leadership. The venture started developing business in funding, finance, and technology. The venture collaborated with Samil PwC to promote expertise and train the members of the venture. With its experience of working with various non-profit customers, Brictoworks promise to share our knowledge about funding to the world through DONUS.

Foundation of inspire/d (Branding and Marketing strategy)

With its experience on various digital and mobile projects, Crevisse started projects to provide digital and creative services to major global companies and non-profit organizations. The project grew fast through marketing strategies developed based on trend reports, media operations, digital campaign and consulting in an era of smartphones and social media. Led by Dongmin Kim (2012-2018) and Yusup Kim (2019-present), the venture was provided autonomy as an independent business system and started developing leadership with expertise in branding and marketing.
2013. 01. Mission Statement

Awaken your potential to impact the world.

A new mission statement with a long-term perspective was established. Interns in the foundation period have become shareholders as well as members of the board of directors with the founders. Hoping that members of the company will be more involved in the process of making the world a better place, the company decided to increase the number of members on the board of directors.

Foundation of Crevisse Ventures

Through its investments in fellow entrepreneurs' business with profits made over 10years, Crevisse Partners came to realize how investment can lead to value and profit creation. With such experience, Crevisse Partners decided to execute 'impact investment and acceleration' to build expertise in finance. Led by Jaehyun Kim (2014-present), the company is establishing a system for independent investment and development.
2018. 03. Impact Business No.5

Foundation of Sincerely

With experience in business development and management, Crevisse Partners search for markets in need of solutions and where large-scale business can be developed. Powerhouse, Inspire/d and BringYourCup's leadership was involved in the business development process. Led by Dongmin Kim (2018-present), Crevisse partners launched another independent business system with expertise in product, merchandise/shipping and distribution.
2018. 10. Hosting of 'DONUS Collaborate 2018'
Crevisse Partners promise to share with the world the knowledge and experience gained in the process of working with NPOs in funding and technology. The company will continue to hold and develop conferences to provide NPOs with expertise in finance, technology and marketing.

2010. 09. Impact Investment No.2

Co-founding and acceleration of Tree Planet

Crevisse Partners came into touch with Hyungsoo Kim and Mincheol Jeong in the company CEO's lecture. They were looking to plant and grow trees through a smartphone game. The company came to be aware of people and businesses focusing implementation of social values in the community and decided to strengthen the relationship with the people and companies. After the first meeting, Crevisse Partners decided to work with Tree Planet and started working in the same office.

Co-founding and collaboration with D3 Jubilee Partners

After Tree Planet was awarded in Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC), Crevisse Partners began working with professionals such as investment bankers and consultants interested in working to resolve global problems. In such an effort, Crevisse Partners invested in D3Jubilee and became a board member.
2011. 07. Hosting of 'Creative Alliance 100'
In collaboration with companies involved in resolving social issues in creatives ways (Tree Planet, Donus, D3Jubilee), Crevisse Partners hosted Creative Alliance 100, an invitation-only festival with 100 people that helped the company grow. After a contemplation on what a 'loved company' might be, Crevisse Partners proposed for a 'creative alliance' as an alliance of companies that believe in the virtues of democracy, good capitalism, and social innovations like predecessors had hosted People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy for the world change 30 years ago.

Joint foundation and acceleration of Musical Mobydick

Crevisse Partners founded and developed Musical MobyDick to support small musicals and provide opportunities to creators and artists in the industry where mostly musical produced by major companies survive. As Korea’s first musical where actors sing and play the instruments on their own, it received positive reviews from the audience and critics. Hyunjun Ji received New Male Actor awards from the 6th Musical Award and Yegyung Jung received Innovative Award and Music Award from the 1st Yegreen Musical Award.

Joint foundation and acceleration of BringYourCup

Crevisse Partners took part in the investment and development of BringYourCup, a project founded by Youngjun Kim, to solve environmental problems. Crevisse Partners started building a team in April and the project started in Crevisse’s co-work space. It was acquired by Crevisse Partners in 2016.

Joint foundation and acceleration of Frentrip

Crevisse Partners took part in the investment and development of Frip, a project founded by Suyeol Lim to solve problems in traveling. Suyeol Lim joined Crevisse Partners' Business Strategy & Planning Team in 2012 and decided to launch his impact venture in July 2013. He incorporated his business in November.

Angel investment and supporting of Eone Timepiece

Crevisse Partners became the first investor in Eone Timepiece, a company founded by Hyungsoo Kim with a mission of providing “Design for Everyone”. Crevisse Partners met the founder in 2012 at Boston and kept in touch ever since. Timepiece's product, “Bradley”, a watch that can be used by the visually impaired, raised $6 million in sales in a month in about 50 different countries on Kickstarter and was successfully launched in various countries.

Angel investment and acceleration of Zipbob

Crevisse Partners became the first investor in Zipbob, a project founded by In Park with a mission of solving community problems. Crevisse Partners and Lynn Park have been in touch since 2011. Zipbob provided over 1,000 meetings through social dining but stopped providing services in 2018.
2014. 07. Impact Investment No.9

Joint foundation and acceleration of Enlighten

Crevisse Partners became the first investor in Enlighten, a project founded by Kiyong Shin with a mission to solve energy usage problems in developing countries. Crevisse Partners and Kiyong first met in 2013 at a social venture contest. Enlighten developed 'BetterRe' which upcycles old smartphone batteries to be used as a power bank. Enlighten is expanding the market by launching the BetterRenew service which guarantees continuous usage of housewares.

Investment and cooperation with Merry Year Social Company (MYSC)

Crevisse Partners became a shareholder and director of MYSC, a company focused on social innovation consulting and investment. Crevisse Partners have been in contact with MYSC since 2015 for two years at Crevisse Town and developed a long-term cooperation and partnership through collaborations such as holding KOICA Global Social Venture Accelerating Project together.
2015. 10. Joined Seongsu Community
Crevisse Partners had continued to develop an alliance of social ventures and impact investment ecosystem in Gangnam district in Seoul. Starting with Cow&Dog in 2014, Root Impact and Impact Square moved its offices to Seongsu. In March 2015 Crevisse Partners and affiliate companies decided to move to Seongsu as well. In October 2015 Crevisse Partners joined the Seongsu community as the anchor organization.

Joint foundation and supporting of Alliv

Crevisse Partners joint-founded and invested in Alliv, a project co-founded by Minseok Kwon with a mission to solve housing and life-style problems. Alliv provided Alliv Home, a housing solution for young people in Seongsu area through the Seoul Social Housing project. Alliv also provided working space and services to freelancers and young entrepreneurs through Alliv Lounge. Crevisse Partners are preparing new businesses beyond life-style to solve work-style problems.

Joint foundation and supporting of Spacewalk

Crevisse Partners joint-founded and invested in Spacewalk, a project founded by Sunghyeon Cho with a mission to solve problems in the real estate and construction industry. Sunghyeon came into touch with Crevisse Partners in the process of preparing for social housing for Alliv in February 2016. Spacewalk is involved in solving problems in the real estate development and distribution industry by developing Artificial Intelligence construction and architecture industry.

Initiation to set up 'Impact Alliance'

With Root Impact, Impact Square and Sopoong, Crevisse Partners executed meetings to create an impact-oriented community focusing on impact investment and social venture.

Preparation to setup 'Impact Alliance'

Preparatory Committee for the establishment of Impact Alliance was expanded to include Bear.Better, Marymond, Weenu and We Connect in October 2018. The committee is working to establish Impact Alliance as a registered organization in the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Scaling up into the Mainstream Market

Crevisse Partners learned that changes according to our philosophy need to be made within the standards and protocols of mainstream of the market. Our biggest challenge is to make impact-oriented industry to have a role in the society and to be recognized by the key players in both private and public markets. Crevisse Partners is also putting efforts into proving our capabilities and achievements in the market while making contributions to improvement of market standards and protocols.

Seoul Metropolitan Government - Crevisse Partners was selected as an operating partner for Social Investment Fund (Intermediary support organization collaboration project, five years, total budget of $100K)

Crevisse Partners recognized the need to actively develop a role in the financial industry as an investor in order to promote our philosophy and methods with external resources and networks in addition to our internal resources and company-building skills. Crevisse Partners decided to verify and develop credibility and capabilities through small experiments.
2016. 11. Impact Investment and Acceleration

KOICA - Crevisse Partners was selected as Global Social Venture Acceleration (GSVA) Project Managing Partner (Southeast Asia, three years, total budget of $1.6M)

Crevisse Partners launched a project to accelerate and invest to social ventures in Indonesia and Vietnam with KOICA. This was a significant milestone in the development of acceleration and investment in the international development sector going beyond mere education support.

Seoul Metropolitan Government - Crevisse Partners was selected as an operation partner for social investment fund (Seongdong district cooperation fund, five years, a total budget of $500K)

Crevisse Partners expanded on the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Social Investment Fund pilot project to raise and operate funds for impact investing and lending to social ventures in the Seongsu area with the Seongdong district.

Seoul Metropolitan Government - Crevisse Partners was selected as an operation partner for "Investment Project for Social Innovation by Youth" (two years, a total investment budget of $10M)

With the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Crevisse Partners managed and operated the budget for impact acceleration of social ventures around Seoul area.

Seoul Metropolitan Government - Crevisse Partners was selected as an operation partner for Social Investment Fund (social housing, five years, a total budget of $2.4M)

With Seoul Metropolitan Government, Crevisse Partners raised and operated social housing funds to solve housing problems in Seoul.

Financial Services Commission - Crevisse Partners was registered as General Partner of PEF based on Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act.

Crevisse Partners was registered as Korean impact investment industry’s first PEF operating company, and this served as the foundation for the company to grow in compliance with the standards and protocols in the finance market.

Korea Growth Investment Corporation - Crevisse Partners was selected as an entrusted operator for impact investment fund (First joint impact investment fund between private and public sectors, ten years, AUM $20M)

Crevisse Partners was selected as an entrusted operator for the first joint impact investment between public and private sectors.
2018. 12. Impact Investment and Acceleration

NH Bank - Crevisse Partners was selected as an operation partner for Digital Challenge+ Program (one year, Industry: finance, agriculture, etc.)

Crevisse Partners co-operated Digital Campus with NH Bank to accelerate and invest in ventures with a mission to solve problems in finance, agriculture, real estate, etc.

Seoul Metropolitan Government - Crevisse Partners was reselected as an operation partner for "Investment Project for Social Innovation by Youth" (two years, a total investment budget of $10M)

Crevisse Partners operate the budget for impact acceleration for social ventures in the Seoul area with Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Crevisse Partners served as an executive producer in "Samsung For Impact" program. (2020, Europe)

Crevisse Partners, as a global headquarter partner for Samsung Electronics Corporate Citizenship Office, served as an executive producer in "Samsung For Impact", which is an acceleration program for the Impact Ventures (starting from 2020 in four European countries - Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland)
